It is a pleasure once again to see so many strong players from abroad and from Denmark as well. A special welcome
to all the foreigners headed by Zia this time with Roy Welland as partner and to the strong ladies, Sabine Auken
and Daniela von Arnim, the Polish internationals Pepsi Kwiezcen, the French quartet (Levy, Mouiel, Quantin and
Chemla), the Dutchmen Jansma and Verhees, the Spanish Argentine combination Ventin_Lombardi, the Norwegian
trio Helgemo, Brogeland and Sælensminde, and the Swedes Bertheau, Nyström and Fredin (the latter almost classified as a Dane).
And of course to all the Danish participants. It is difficult to guess which one of these 16 strong pairs we have to celebrate as the first
winner of the Hecht Cup in the new format.

Back in business!
Many old friends, some new
but in contrast to the past six
tournaments we are now using the
well-known format from Sunday
Times, Politiken World Pairs etc.
The field is reduced to 16 pairs,
which because of a more uniform
field should result in first class
results.

With a score of 67_13 against our host (shame on you, Sweden) Bertheau_Nyström
took over the lead after the morning session, but it was a very close race, and after
round 6 they were overtaken by a group of four pairs with Pszola_Kwiezcen in front.

Bjarnarson_Askgaard managed to stay at the 1st place after the
first round Sunday, but then they
lost their go. After round 12
Blakset_Helgemo took over
ahead of Pepsi_Kwiecien, and
same standing after round 13 and
14. Blakset_Helgemo were
respectively 15, 15 and 21 ahead.
Everything was settled for an
exciting finish. Bjarnarson_
Askgaard were 46 points behind
when they played against the
leaders in the final round, while
the Poles met Lombardi_Ventin.
The Danish-Norwegian pair
scored 50 points, while the Poles
only got 37. "May the best of you
be runners-up", Lars joked in the
pre-bulletin. Now we know who is
second to none as well!
The 3rd place ended up in a tie
congratulations all of you!
